OUR MISSION & VISION
CAN A PERSON JOIN THE CHURCH OF GOD (Membership)?
If you are not a Christian (that is, not saved, not born anew, not a disciple of Jesus Christ), then you will want to confess your sins in prayer, ask God to forgive your sinful way of living, and invite Jesus Christ to come into your life as Savior and Lord. You may be able to do this alone, but many persons have found that the assistance of a thoughtful and mature Christian is helpful at this time. When you accept Jesus Christ as Savior, you are born into God’s church. You are a new creation in Christ (John 3:1-7; 2 Corinthians 5:17). Through the cross you have become a member.
I. THE BIBLE IS OUR RULE OF FAITH
We believe the Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word and is the standard for all Christians.
Scripture References: II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:20-21
II. THE TRINITY
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Scripture References: II Corinthians 13:14, Matthew 28:19
III. MAN’S SINFULNESS
We believe the Bible teaching that man sinned and fell short of the glory of God.
Scripture References: Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23
We believe Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died a vicarious death, arose through a triumphant resurrection, sits at the right hand of God and lives to make intercession as man’s only means of salvation.
Scripture References: Hebrews 7:25, John 14:6, Acts 4:12
We believe the experience of sanctification as a second definite work of grace, subsequent to salvation. This enables us to live a life of holiness, which is the standard and norm for every Christian. The evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit is a holy life empowered to witness.
Scripture References: I Thessalonians 4:3-4, I Thessalonians 5:22-23, Hebrews 12:14, Acts 1:8
VI. THE CHURCH OF GOD
We believe the Bible doctrine that the church of God is the bride of Christ into which every believer is born and that here all born-again believers are united in one great Christian family of which Christ is the Head.
Scripture References: Acts 2:47, Acts 20:28, John 17:11-12, Ephesians 5:23
